Are Human Beings Naturally Monogamous

Of course they’re not. They’re also not naturally non-homicidal or naturally prone not to steal. Humans are naturally harem-ous and violence is their only basis of property. Civilization, by definition, is not natural. Every civilization must have at its source some binding document like The Ten Commandments that says: “Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not murder, thou shalt not commit adultery...” If not doing these things were natural, there would be no need to prohibit them.

Deadly poisons like cyanide and arsenic occur naturally. So do violence and rape. The life-saving medicine and technology we enjoy today do not occur naturally, nor does the predictable social order they depend on.
